I've relied on the Nord Stage as a primary keyboard in my touring rig since 2009. The versatility and quality of the sounds, along with the ability to manipulate sounds and effects in the moment gives me everything I need when on stage with Umphrey's McGee

Joel Cummins, founding keyboardist for Umphrey's McGee & Digital Tape Machine, has always embraced vintage sounds & ideas in his arsenal of creative tools.  As one of the creative forces & songwriters in Umphrey's McGee, his role as the harmonic and tonal rock underneath the band's dual guitar attack has been crucial in the development of the band's sound.  His versatility & ear are noteworthy for the stylistically diverse improvisational powerhouse that is Umphrey's.  Growing up around the musical scene in Chicago, Joel listened to keyboardists such as Herbie Hancock, Chuck Leavell, Ramsey Lewis & Bruce Hornsby, whose influences invariably make their way into his music.  Over the course of his career Joel has shared the stage with a variety of distinguished musicians such as Joshua Redman, Huey Lewis, Mavis Staples, Buddy Guy, John Oates, Phil Lesh & Bob Weir, Bernie Worrell, Bill Evans & Bela Fleck to name a few.
