New in version v5.3: This latest update adds support for the Nord Stage 2, Nord Piano and Nord Electro 3 HP's Long Release feature on all Grand Pianos, Uprights, Electric Pianos and Electric Grands.
All sounds available in several sizes - Extra Large, Large, Medium and Small
The Lrg, Med and Sml sizes share the same amount of velocity layers, and the same number of zones that are mapped across the keyboard. This means that you can rely on a consistent quality in regards to the playability and expressiveness in the basic sound of every piano, no matter which of these sizes you choose to install in your Nord Piano Library compatible unit.
The Extra Large versions are fully mapped accross the keyboard which increases the size a bit. The velocity layers are the same as on the other sizes.
The Large versions have String Resonance samples all across the keyboard, providing you with a very full sound.
The Medium versions have String Resonance samples in the important middle region of the range, but omit these in the lowest and the highest areas. This gives you a good ratio of functionality and size.
Sml is the version that uses the least amount of space in the piano memory, but still carry a big and powerful punch. This version does not contain any String Resonance samples at all. If an Sml piano is selected in the Nord unit, the String Resonance feature (if applicable) will be disabled.

Grand Imperial
The Grand Imperial is an Austrian giant. With a powerful soundboard and a high proportion of mountain spruce from the Alps, the sound of this Grand Piano is almost orchestral.
The manufacturer's principle of the resonating box, which views the entire instrument as a cohesive whole, generates unsurpassed power and an exquisite full tone that is somewhat dark in character.

Grand Lady D (Steinway Model D)
The Grand Lady D is a carefully voiced Steinway Model D that has been carefully selected by us because of its special tonal characteristics. The unique voicing brings out the best of this 9-foot beast, you just add a bit of your talent to create wonderful musical moments.
The Nord Piano version captures the full sound from the tapered, double crowned soundboard. The excellence of the huge maple body and every nuance of the almost 300 strings are also present, which incidentally are made from Swedish steel.

Studio Grand 1 (C7 Conservatory Grand)
The Studio Grand 1 is a great C7 Conservatory Grand but with a completely different character, compared to the Studio Grand 2. It has a lot more bite even when you play soft and the bass projection is a bit different compared to the Studio Grand 2. The recording was done with a close-up microphone positioning.

Studio Grand 2 (C7 Conservatory Grand)
The Studio Grand 2 is a meticulously prepared C7 Conservatory Grand recorded with a close-up microphone positioning and custom modified pre-amps and audio interface. Many hours were spent adjusting this instrument and balancing the sound before the actual recording took place.
Our objective was to get a specific voice from this instrument. New strings were installed, the action was optimized and the hammers were prepared. The felt on the hammers were needled by our piano technician, in order to make the sonic response as expressive and dynamic as possible, from the very softest pp passages to a strong FF presence.

Concert Grand Close (Steinway Model D)
Steinway is probably one of the world's most respected and well-known manufacturers of grand pianos. The mighty 9 foot Steinway D was recorded in Örebro concert hall, and this Nord Piano version was captured with the microphones positioned close to the strings. This perspective provides a very in-your-face sound, good for those situations when you wish to add your own choice of ambience or when performing live.

Concert Grand Ambient (Steinway Model D)
This ambient recording of the Steinway D is the 'normal' or preferred placement of the microphones when you wish to capture a classical performance of such a great sounding concert grand piano. The grand itself interacts with the acoustics of concert hall in which it was recorded and both these components create the actual sound.
